I first met Matt Holloway in 1991. Our families shared a lunch, as his parents, Mike and Denise, whom I’d known for a decade, had recently moved to the Omaha area. Over the following years, Matt struck me as responsible, smart, and kind—qualities he demonstrated in his interactions, including with my own family. Throughout high school, he balanced academics, music (band and choir), a job, and involvement in his youth group.
Matt’s diligence continued as he earned a full-ride Scott Scholarship to the University of Nebraska’s engineering program, where he excelled, also undertaking an internship at ConAgra. In the spring of 2005, as Matt approached graduation and his wedding to his wife, Sara, I learned he was still considering his career path. Recognizing a wonderful opportunity for America First Investment Advisors (AFIA), I invited him to consider joining our team. He accepted.
That was 20 years ago this spring! In the two decades since, Matt has become an integral part of AFIA. He mastered the operational areas of our company and earned his Certified Financial PlannerTM (CFP®) certification. More importantly, his collaborative approach with our clients and team members has been instrumental in building America First Investment Advisors. Today, Matt serves as our CEO, is a dedicated father to five wonderful children, is active in his church, and remains a good friend to many, including each of us.
At AFIA, our motto is, “The advice you get from us will be the same we’d give a member of our own family.” This principle guides our firm, underscoring the care we take when inviting new team members and clients to join us. Our goal is to foster an environment of thoughtful and discerning individuals, as we believe this creates the trust essential for working together towards sound, long-term financial objectives. Matt is a leader in upholding these values and guiding our team as we continue this commitment.
Please join me in congratulating Matt on his 20th anniversary with AFIA and in celebrating his 20th wedding anniversary with Sara!
